Whatever Rises to the Surface: Use It
Card of the Week:
1 – The Alchemist
Focus • Resourceful • Sacred Action
“Workin’ with what you got.”

Once upon a time I was walking in a labyrinth and the sun was blazing hot. Ringing the path were trees but at high noon there weren’t enough shadows to work with. My heart and intention was to make it to the middle where the holy center exists to make contact with the divine. This was the purpose of my journey to reach that place so I could turn this discomfort into wisdom.
Interestingly enough, this week’s theme at CSL Santa Barbara is “Dance With Your Shadow”. The shadow in this instance was me and the hotness of the sun which was bringing to the surface my reluctance and resistance along the path of the circuitous labyrinth. I decided to lean into the discomfort of the sun and to start praising it. The last time I had been there it was so overcast it was like the sky was sweating and now it was my turn to sweat.
The Alchemist card in the Down Home Celestial Wisdom is a resourceful metaphysician who uses what cards are dealt to him at any given time. As I was praising the warmth of the sun and the streaming sweat on my brow, the winds began to blow and I started to feel a pep in my step. And as I was marveling over the sweetness of the breeze over my damp forehead, I found my path had ventured into the shady parts of the labyrinth.
This is how we “dance with our shadow” – we make the best of a situation We see the advantages to be mined and we keep it moving. The Alchemist turns that brass into gold and that power is also within you.
So let’s take the path of alchemy in our lives. Whatever circumstance blows your way, try find the resource available and use it with all your might.
Affirmation:
“I don’t need things to be perfect to move. I just need to mean it when I move.”
